Community Outreach

One of the most important things we do as a Club is provide support to each other and our community. Our Care Calendar Coordinator is ready to coordinate assistance for Club members who need a little help. Whether it is a time of joy or sorrow, the Care Calendar is ready to arrange meals as needed.

The Club also supports outside charities that impact our community at large.  We have donated supplies and money to the following non-profits:

Austin Diaper Bank

Austin Children's Center

Austin Public Library

Capital Area Food Bank of Austin

Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas

SafePlace

Toys for Tots

Holidays for Heroes

Other non-profits we have supported in the past include:

Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen For The Cure

The Austin Affiliate of the Komen Foundation supports early detection of and treatment for breast cancer in Central Texas. They also raise funds for breast cancer research through the Race for the Cure, which will be held Sunday, November 1st at the Domain. A $20 donation provides one week of childcare for a mother receiving treatment, $125 covers a level 3 surgical consult, and $400 provides one month of emergency medical coverage. Please bring your spare change to the September and October meetings. Entry forms for Race for the Cure will also be available.

Coats for Kids

Coats for Kids is a local project that collects warm winter coats for eligible children and teenagers in Central Texas. This is a great opportunity to buy an inexpensive coat for a child in need and to donate gently used coats that no longer fit your own family members. Please bring your coats to the November and December meetings.

Go Red for Women

Sponsored by the American Heart Association, Go Red for Women raises awareness about heart disease and stroke, the leading causes of death among women. Donations to this organization help fund research and development of new medications, new surgical techniques, new treatment regimens, and new recommendations for preventing heart disease. Please bring your spare change to the January and February meetings. Please wear red to the February meeting as we celebrate our own Go Red For Women Day.

Comfort Bags for the Homeless

These are tough times, and Austin has been hit hard by the failing economy. In March and April, we will collect small toiletries and snacks to distribute to those affected by homelessness in our area. Please bring your donations to the March and April meetings. As you leave, we'll give you a couple of bags to hand out at stoplights.
